I'm learning a lot about Pop up art (paper engineering). Ducan Biringham makes it pretty easy, but practice helps. I bought his book too.

I seemed to have missed the part that popups need tension. So, when I made tabs for these fish, they just lay there like they were dead. Conceptually, that would have worked, but I wanted them to "pop up." So I consulted my son, the engineer-minded. He recommended a spring. Thanks! An old pen's spring worked perfectly.
